Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

For the Layers:

  • 3–4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/2 cup crushed pineapple, drained well (optional but delicious)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips or chocolate syrup

Optional Toppings:

  • Whipped cream
  • Chopped nuts (walnuts or peanuts)
  • Sprinkles
  • Maraschino cherries

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Graham Cracker Crust

In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated and resemble wet sand.

Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×9-inch baking dish (or similar size). Use the back of a spoon or the bottom of a glass to pack it tightly.

Place the crust in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes to set while you prepare the filling.

Step 2: Prepare the Creamy Filling

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture. Mix slowly and carefully so the filling stays light and fluffy.

Step 3: Assemble the Cake

Spread half of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled crust.

Layer the sliced bananas evenly across the filling. If using pineapple, sprinkle it over the bananas.

Spread the remaining cream cheese mixture on top, smoothing it out evenly.

Drizzle with chocolate syrup or sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the top.

Step 4: Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results. This helps the dessert firm up and allows the flavors to blend beautifully.

Step 5: Add Toppings & Serve

Before serving, decorate with whipped cream, chopped nuts, sprinkles, and cherries for that classic banana split look.

Slice, serve chilled, and enjoy!

Helpful Tips

  • To prevent bananas from browning, lightly brush them with lemon juice before layering.
  • Make sure pineapple is well drained so the dessert doesn’t become watery.
  • This cake tastes even better the next day!
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
