Time & Yield
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Bake Time: 30–35 minutes
- Total Time: About 55 minutes
- Servings: 6–8 slices
Ingredients
Filling
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 6 slices bacon, cooked until crispy and crumbled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Bread & Garlic Butter
- 1 large loaf French bread
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup butter, melted
Instructions
1 Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
2 Prepare the Bread
Using a sharp serrated knife, cut the French bread in half lengthwise. Carefully hollow out the center of each half, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges and bottom to keep the bread sturdy.
Set the hollowed bread aside.
3 Make the Burger Filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine:
- Ground beef
- Crumbled bacon
- Cheddar cheese
- Mozzarella cheese
- Parmesan cheese
Season generously with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined—do not overmix, as this can make the filling dense.
4 Stuff the Bread
Divide the beef mixture evenly between the two bread halves. Press the filling firmly into the hollowed bread so it’s tightly packed and level on top.
5 Prepare the Garlic Butter
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the minced garlic until well combined. Brush the garlic butter generously over the top edges and surface of the stuffed bread.
6 Bake (Covered)
Wrap the stuffed bread loosely in aluminum foil and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until:
- The beef is fully cooked
- The cheese is melted and bubbly
7 Bake (Uncovered)
Carefully remove the foil and return the bread to the oven. Bake for an additional 5–10 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and slightly crispy on top.
8 Rest, Slice & Serve
Remove from the oven and allow the bread to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This helps the filling set and makes cleaner slices.
Cut into thick slices and serve warm.
Tips for Best Results
- Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting
- Don’t hollow the bread too thin or it may collapse
- Add cooked onions or pickles for a true burger flavor
- For extra crispiness, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end (watch closely)
