Indulge in the nostalgic flavors of an old-fashioned root beer float with this easy and irresistible Root Beer Float Pie.  Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 pre-made graham cracker crust (9-inch)
    or
  • 1½ cups crushed vanilla wafers or graham crackers
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Root Beer Float Filling

  • ¾ cup root beer (regular, not diet, room temperature)
  • ½ cup milk (whole milk recommended)
  • 1 package (3.4 oz / 96 g) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Cool Whip or whipped topping, thawed

Topping

  • 1½–2 cups Cool Whip or whipped topping
  • Maraschino cherries (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings or sprinkles (optional)

 Directions

1 Prepare the Crust (If Homemade)

  1. In a medium bowl, combine crushed cookies and melted butter.
  2. Mix until evenly moistened.
  3. Press firmly into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Freeze for 10–15 minutes to set.

(Skip this step if using a store-bought crust.)

2 Make the Root Beer Filling

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the root beer and milk.
  2. Sprinkle in the instant vanilla pudding mix.
  3. Whisk continuously for 1–2 minutes until thick and smooth.
  4. Add vanilla extract and gently stir to combine.
  5. Fold in 1 cup Cool Whip using a spatula until light and fluffy.

3 Assemble the Pie

  1. Pour the root beer pudding mixture into the prepared crust.
  2. Spread evenly and smooth the top.
  3. Freeze for 3–4 hours, or until firm.

4 Add the Topping

  1. Once the pie is set, spread the remaining Cool Whip evenly over the top.
  2. Garnish with maraschino cherries, chocolate shavings, or sprinkles if desired.
  3. Return to the freezer for 30 minutes before serving.
