Ingredients

  • 2 ready-made pie crusts
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1½ cups pizza or marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar or provolone cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Optional additions:

  • Sliced bell peppers
  • Mushrooms
  • Black olives
  • Crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly grease a deep-dish pie pan or springform pan.

2. Prepare the Crust

Place one pie crust into the pan, pressing it firmly along the bottom and sides.
Brush the crust lightly with melted butter—this helps prevent sogginess.

3. Cook the Meats

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and sausage until browned, breaking them apart as they cook.

Add the chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Season with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Drain excess grease if needed.

4. Assemble the Pie

Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the bottom crust.
Add half of the meat mixture, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese.

Add pepperoni slices, then the remaining meat mixture.
Top with the remaining sauce and all remaining cheeses.

5. Top with the Second Crust

Place the second pie crust over the filling.
Crimp the edges to seal and cut small slits on top to allow steam to escape.
Brush the top crust with melted butter.

6. Bake

Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

If the crust browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil.

7. Rest and Serve

Let the pie rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
Serve warm and enjoy this cheesy, deep-dish masterpiece.
