Ingredients
Dry Ingredients:
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder (use high-quality for best flavor)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients:
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil (or melted butter for richer flavor)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup (120ml) milk (whole milk preferred)
Optional Add-ins:
- ½ cup chocolate chips (dark or semi-sweet)
- ½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans work great)
- ¼ cup white chocolate chips (for contrast)
Optional Hot Fudge Sauce (Highly Recommended)
- 1 cup (170g) dark chocolate, chopped
- ½ cup (120ml) heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prepare
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Grease a loaf pan (9×5-inch) with butter or oil.
- Lightly dust with flour or line with parchment paper for easy removal.
Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together for about 2–3 minutes until pale and slightly fluffy.
- Add the oil (or melted butter) and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Pour in the milk and stir until fully combined.
Step 3: Combine Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Sifting helps remove lumps and ensures a smoother texture.
Step 4: Make the Batter
- Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients.
- Fold gently using a spatula or whisk—do not overmix.
- The batter should be thick, glossy, and slightly dense (like brownie batter).
Step 5: Add Extras
- Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Reserve a few chocolate chips to sprinkle on top for a bakery-style look.
Step 6: Bake
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Smooth the top and sprinkle extra chocolate chips.
- Bake for 35–45 minutes.
Important:
- Insert a toothpick into the center: it should come out with moist crumbs, not dry.
- This ensures the bread stays fudgy and soft, not cakey.
Step 7: Cool
- Let the brownie bread cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes.
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly before slicing.
How to Make Hot Fudge Sauce
- Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until just about to boil (do not let it fully boil).
- Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate in a bowl.
- Let sit for 1 minute, then stir until smooth and glossy.
- Add butter, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Mix until silky.
Serving Suggestions
- Slice the brownie bread while slightly warm.
- Drizzle generously with hot fudge sauce.
- Serve with:
- Vanilla ice cream
- Whipped cream
- Fresh berries
For an extra indulgent dessert, warm a slice in the microwave for 10–15 seconds before serving.
