Tender lobster tails and perfectly seared scallops are bathed in rich garlic butter with fresh lemon, creating a dish that’s elegant, bold, and incredibly satisfying. Perfect for date nights, holidays, or when you want to impress with minimal effort.
Ingredients
- 2 lobster tails, split in half lengthwise
- 8–10 large sea scallops, patted completely dry
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Zest of ½ lemon (optional but highly recommended)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
- Olive oil, for cooking
- Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for heat
Directions
1. Prep the Seafood
Split the lobster tails in half lengthwise using kitchen shears or a sharp knife.
Pat the scallops dry thoroughly (this is key for a good sear).
Season both the lobster and scallops with salt and pepper.
2. Sear the Scallops
Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until very hot.
Add scallops in a single layer and sear for 1½–2 minutes per side, undisturbed, until a golden crust forms.
Remove scallops from the pan and set aside.
3. Cook the Lobster
In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium.
Add 2 tablespoons butter and a small drizzle of olive oil.
Place lobster halves flesh-side down and cook for 2–3 minutes, until the meat begins to turn opaque.
Flip lobster, add minced garlic, and spoon the butter over the meat continuously for another 2–3 minutes.
4. Garlic Butter Magic
Add the remaining 2 tablespoons butter, lemon juice, lemon zest, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Stir gently until the butter melts and forms a glossy sauce.
Return the scallops to the pan and spoon the garlic butter over everything. Cook for 1–2 minutes, just until scallops are warmed through and lobster is fully cooked.
5. Finish & Serve
Remove from heat and garnish generously with chopped fresh parsley.
Serve immediately with extra garlic butter spooned over the top.
