  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

 Instructions

1 Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.

2 Prepare the Biscuits

Open the can of refrigerated biscuits and cut each biscuit into quarters.
Spread the biscuit pieces evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. This will form the base of your casserole.

3 Cook the Sausage Mixture

In a large skillet over medium heat:

  • Add the ground sausage and cook until browned
  • Break it up into small crumbles as it cooks

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic:

  • Cook for another 3–4 minutes until softened and fragrant

Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.

4 Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a medium bowl:

  • Crack the eggs and whisk them thoroughly
  • Add milk, salt, and pepper
  • Mix until fully combined and smooth

5 Assemble the Casserole

  • Spread the cooked sausage mixture evenly over the biscuit layer
  • Pour the egg mixture evenly on top, making sure everything is coated

6 First Bake

Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until:

  • The eggs are set
  • The biscuits are cooked through
  • The top is lightly golden

7 Make the Gravy

While the casserole is baking, prepare the gravy:

In a saucepan over medium heat:

  1. Melt the butter
  2. Add flour and whisk continuously for about 1–2 minutes (this forms a roux)
  3. Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps
  4. Continue stirring until the gravy thickens (about 5–7 minutes)

Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

8 Final Bake

  • Remove the casserole from the oven
  • Pour the warm gravy evenly over the top
  • Return it to the oven for an additional 10–15 minutes

 Serving Suggestions

  • Let the casserole rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing
  • Cut into squares and serve warm
  • Pairs perfectly with:
    • Fresh fruit
    • Coffee or tea
