It’s rich, cheesy, creamy, and packed with bold flavors from garlic, parmesan, juicy beef, and crispy bacon. This dish is perfect for family dinners, gatherings, or whenever you want something indulgent and unforgettable.
Ingredients
For the Lasagna:
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 500g (1 lb) ground beef
- 200g bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream (optional but recommended)
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Bacon and Beef
Start by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped bacon and cook until it becomes crispy and releases its fat. Once done, remove the bacon and set it aside, but keep the bacon grease in the pan for extra flavor.
Add the chopped onion to the same pan and cook until soft and translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Next, add the ground beef. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until browned and fully cooked. Return the bacon to the pan, then season everything with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well and let it cook for another 2–3 minutes so all the flavors combine.
Step 2: Prepare the Garlic Parmesan Sauce
In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1–2 minutes until it forms a smooth paste (this is called a roux).
Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Then add the heavy cream (if using) and continue stirring until the sauce thickens.
Add the grated parmesan cheese and stir until fully melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. The sauce should be creamy, rich, and slightly thick.
Step 3: Cook the Lasagna Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
If you’re using oven-ready lasagna sheets, you can skip this step.
Step 4: Assemble the Lasagna
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a greased baking dish, start layering:
- Spread a thin layer of the garlic parmesan sauce
- Add a layer of lasagna noodles
- Spread a portion of the beef and bacon mixture
- Sprinkle some mozzarella cheese
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used
For the final layer:
- Top with remaining sauce
- Add a generous amount of mozzarella and a little extra parmesan
Step 5: Bake
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes until the top is golden, bubbly, and slightly crispy.
Serving Suggestions
Let the lasagna rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps it hold its shape better.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot. It pairs perfectly with:
- A fresh green salad
- Garlic bread
- Roasted vegetables
