Frying
- Heat the oil to 370°F (185°C) in a deep fryer or heavy pot.
- Drop heaping spoonfuls of batter (or use a small cookie scoop) into the hot oil, making sure each scoop contains apple pieces.
- Fry for 2–3 minutes, or until golden brown.
- If using a deep fryer, gently shake the basket for even cooking.
- If using a pot or pan, flip the fritters halfway through.
- Fry in small batches (3–4 at a time) to avoid overcrowding.
Draining & Finishing
- Remove fritters from the oil and place them on a cooling rack with paper towels underneath to catch excess oil.
- If coating with cinnamon sugar, roll the fritters while they are still warm enough to handle.
Vanilla Glaze (Optional)
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- Splash of vanilla extract
- 1–1 ½ tablespoons milk
Instructions:
Whisk all ingredients together until smooth. Drizzle over fritters or dip them directly into the glaze. Allow to set for a few minutes before serving.
